Bible Truth FAQs

THE CHURCH IS THE SAVED

The role of the church, the body of Christ, has little significance in the minds of many. "I'll live a good moral life, believe in God and Christ, but I don't want anything to do with the church", they say.

When Christ was rejected by the Jews, the church was not established as an afterthought, or alternative, as some claim. The church was in God's eternal purpose before the foundation of the world (Eph. 3) to make known the manifold wisdom of God, to reconcile both Jew and Gentile to God in one body (Eph. 2). The church is so important that Jesus was willing to die for it (Acts 20:28, Eph. 5:25).

If one chooses to have nothing to do with the church, he chooses not to be saved, because Christ established his church (Matt. 16:18) and he adds the saved to it (Acts 2:47). Therefore, since he adds the saved to his church, there are no saved outside of his church. His church is not a denomination, not a church of your choice. It is the only church you can read about in the Bible.
