Bible Truth FAQs

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT YOUR WAY

People like to do things their own way. Sometimes this works in secular matters, but in religious matters, never. Jeremiah wrote, "0 Lord. I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps" (Jer. 10:23). The wise man said, "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes..." (Prov. 12:15), and, "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death" (Prov. 14:12).

If we could save ourselves, Christ died in vain. It was necessary for him to die for us (Heb. 9:25), and his blood justifies (Rom. 5:6-9). In order to appropriate his blood we must repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38) into his death (Rom. 6:3). This may not be what we want, but Christ is the author of eternal salvation to all them that obey Him (Heb. 5:9). It is what he wants.

You may stubbornly resist Him and continue to have it your way, but your destiny will be bitter disappointment, despair, and eternal condemnation. There is no other name under heaven in which there is salvation (Acts 4:12), not even your own.
