WHO WILL BE SAVED

In Matt. 7:21 Jesus said, "Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." From these words we may safely conclude that salvation is contingent upon doing God's will.

Jesus went on to say in verses 22 and 23 that many religious people will be lost because they presume to do things in his name which he knows nothing about. He called these works of iniquity. Instead of imposing our wills upon God, we should let his word direct us into doing his will.

Obeying the gospel is God's will. II Thess. 1:7-10 and I Pet. 4:17-18 tell us that all who will not obey the gospel will be lost in an everlasting destruction, banished from the Lord's presence and from the glory of his power. It is not God's will that anyone should perish (II Pet. 3:9). Obedience to the gospel of Christ will put one into Christ, making him a new creature having all spiritual blessings (Gal. 3:26-27; II Cor. 5:17; Eph. 1:3). This is God's will.
