Bible Truth FAQs

WHO THE CHILDREN OF GOD ARE

Every person is considered to be a child of God through laws of procreation, since Adam was created in his image and was called the son of God by inspiration (Luke 3:38). However, this question has to do with the spiritual family of God, those who have received spiritual adoption and have become heirs of the eternal inheritance (Gal. 4:4-7).

Let the Apostle Paul answer the question. He said in Gal. 3:26, "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." Many are content to stop right here and claim sonship on the basis or "faith only." After all, didn't Paul say just that?

Paul was not finished. In the very next verse he explained what verse 26 meant by adding, "For (because) as many or you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." Summary: All who have put on Christ in baptism are children of God by faith. The obedient will gain the inheritance in Christ. Those rebelling against and rejecting this simple truth shall be disinherited because they remain outside of Christ.
