WHICH SYSTEM IS IN EFFECT NOW
Before God's written law was given through Moses at Mt. Sinai, men were governed religiously by the system known as the Patriarchal system. God dealt directly with the patriarchs, or fathers, who in turn dealt with their families, or tribes.
The written law was given through Moses to Jacob's family only, known as the Israelites, who were delivered out of the land of Egypt (Deut. 5:3, 6), and this law was to last until Christ came (Gal. 3:16, 19).
God speaks to us today by his Son (Heb. 1:1-2). Christ's system of grace and truth (John 1:17) is in effect now and it is preached to the world through the gospel message (Matt. 28:18-20). It is preached to Jew end Gentile alike (Acts 2:38, Acts 10:34-48) for the purpose of reconciling all people in one body (Eph. 2), which is the church (Col. 1:18).
