WHEN TIME STOOD STILL

God commanded Abraham to leave his native country, Ur of the Chaldees, to go into a land which God would show him, a land which would be an inheritance for Abraham and his seed (Gen. 12). The land of Canaan was the promised land. When the descendants of Abraham were led out of their bondage in the land of Egypt, they were told to possess the land and to drive out the heathen nations before them. At first they refused because of their fear of the heathen inhabitants and their unbelief in God's promises, and were caused to wander for forty years. Finally they entered into the land under the leadership of Joshua.

The Israelites had to fight many fierce battles to dislodge those whom God said to drive out. An account of some of these battles is given in Josh. 10-11. In the intensity of battle Joshua requested the sun and the moon to stand still, and they did until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies (Josh. 10:12-13). Time stood still about a whole day.

We often complain about not having enough time. Just think of a time when there is no time. Right now is the right time to prepare for it because it is coming. To be in the wrong place in timelessness (eternity) is to be forever and ever in that awful place. Salvation is in Christ. Think about it.
