Bible Truth FAQs

WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?

Religious practices are not always based on God's Word. In a great many instances a practice stands on the maligned reasoning of "I can see nothing wrong with it." Some justify a practice by saying, "The Bible does not say NOT to do it." Presumptuousness can be extremely dangerous (Lev. 10:1-2).

Jesus came into the world not to do his own will but the will of His Heavenly Father (Matt. 26:39, Heb. 10:7,9). Followers of Christ must learn to have the same disposition (Phil. 2:5). Those who gain heaven will be those who do the Father's will (Matt. 7:21). God's commands are righteousness (Ps. 119:172), and His word is truth (John 17:17).

Has God commanded it, either directly or indirectly, by direct command, divine example, or necessary inference? If not, it may be that God sees something wrong with it. What we want is often not what God wants. Let His word, His will, decide for us in religious matters.
