Bible Truth FAQs

WHAT IS TRUTH?

Jesus, when conversing with the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well, made the statement, "God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24). Later when he was on trial before Pilate (John 18:31-38), Jesus said that he had come into the world to bear witness unto the truth. Pilate's response was, "What is truth?" In praying to the Heavenly Father as recorded in John 17:17, Jesus confessed, "Thy word is truth."

Many, like Pilate, fail to recognize Truth. They readily accept human substitutions. The creeds, disciplines, confessions of faith, catechisms, etc., upon which the religious institutions today are founded, are the works of men. Jesus rebuked the scribes and Pharisees, stating that their worship was vain because they were teaching for doctrines the commandments of men (Matt. 15:9). Jesus told his disciples in John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

The works of men are not only unnecessary, but damning. Our response to God must be in spirit end in truth. It must be directed by HIS WORD, which is TRUTH!
