Bible Truth FAQs

Is the story about Jonah and the whale just a "big fish story," or is it an accurate account of historical events? Modern intellectuals do not believe the miracles recorded therein and discount this portion of scripture as fiction.

The account of Jonah is just as real and just as reliable as Jesus Christ himself. In Matt. 12:39-41 Jesus not only confirmed it but used Jonah's stay in the whale's belly for three days and nights as a sign (or likeness) of his own stay of three days and nights in the heart of the earth.

Acceptance of God's word is sometimes hindered by human wisdom and logic without regard to unnatural manifestations of God's power. If logic prevents acceptance of the account of Jonah, why not carry logic a step further? If any part of God's word is faulty, wouldn't all the rest of it be tainted? If you can't believe all of God's word, where is the logic in believing any of it?
