THE WORLD'S TOTAL VALUE

How much is the entire world worth in monetary value? Think of all the enormous wealth--land, buildings, vehicles, precious stones, natural resources, etc. It would be impossible for mortal man to put an accurate price tag on it. The mere thought of evaluating it is mind-boggling.

Regardless of how you figure it, God has entrusted each of us with something worth far more than the whole world! Jesus asked (Matt. 'I6:2bt. "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or, what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Why such a comparison? It's because the world is material and will not endure. At Jesus' return the world and all the works therein shall be burned up (II Pet. 3:10). The soul is eternal and will not be burned up (Eccl. 12:1; John 3:16; Mark 9:43-48; Rev.20:10-14). Therefore, we should be more concerned with provision for our souls than for our mortal bodies. When Jesus comes again, the world will be worth absolutely nothing.
