THE LAW OF MOSES IS NO LONGER BINDING ?

In our times frequent reference is made to the Ten Commandments as though we are governed by them in religious matters. As the Ten Commandments are part of God's law given through Moses, they do not apply to people today.

The written law given through Moses was a covenant with the Jews only (Deut. 5:3). It never applied to the Gentiles. Furthermore, it was to last only until the seed should come to whom the promises were made. That seed is Christ (See Gal. 3:16-29). Christ came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill it (Matt. 5:17). Paul stated in Col. 2:14 that Christ ". .took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross." Jeremiah prophesied that God would make a new covenant with his people (Jer. 31:31-34). The system of grace and truth (John 1:17) as revealed in the New Testament is the fulfillment.

There are numerous Old Testament principles which are bound upon people today, but not because the old law is still binding. Whatever is binding today is binding only because the New Testament makes it binding. The Old Testament law has been taken out of the way.
