THE DANGER IN PROCRASTINATION

When we are faced with unpleasant tasks, we often hesitate to meet them head-on. It's much easier to make excuses and put off until later those things which beset us. It's a bad habit and it has control over most of us. But what is so unpleasant or deplorable about obeying the gospel of Christ?

The Bible gives us a vivid example of procrastination toward obeying the gospel. In Acts 24:24-25 the Apostle Paul reasoned with Felix, the Roman governor, of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come. Felix trembled and answered, "Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee." There is no record that Felix ever had a convenient season.

All believers have intentions of going to heaven, but they can't go there without obeying the gospel of Christ (II Thess. 1:7-10; I Pet. 4:17-18}. Procrastination is a dreadful enemy. We have no promise of tomorrow. Two things may happen: death or the end of the world. Either could catch us unprepared and consign us to eternal condemnation. So, why risk our eternal destiny over something we need not fear or put off? Obey today!!
