Bible Truth FAQs

This question may sound somewhat strange to some in a religious sense. We usually associate rooting with gardening where we uproot, or root out, the weeds and other obnoxious and unwanted plants. Let's apply the principle to religious plants.

In Matt. 15:13 Jesus said, "Every plant which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up." The wise reader will not try to apply this scripture to the vegetable kingdom but to unauthorized religious institutions who teach for doctrines the commandments of men (verse 9).

Institutions not authorized by God's word will be rooted up in the final day. Salvation is only in the name of Christ (Acts 4:12). The church which Jesus established (Matt. 16:18) and bought with his own blood (Acts 20:28), over which he is the head (Col. 1:18), also wears his name (Rom. 16:16). Will you risk your eternal destiny in an unauthorized institution that will be rooted up?
