Bible Truth FAQs

GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS

The Psalmist wrote (Ps. 119:172), "My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness." This tells us that righteousness is doing God's commandments.

The Apostle Paul was grieved over the plight of his countrymen. In his letter to the church at Rome he wrote (Rom. 10:1-3), "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."

This is exactly the situation in religion today. Religious groups have established their own rules and regulations to the neglect of Bible instruction. Being religious is not necessarily being righteous. The final judgment will be based on righteousness (Acts 17:31), not on being religious.
